I thought it might be interesting for some of you. The Couf bari has a big, warm tone and sounds better than most other vintage baris out there. I recently posted a review of the Superba I on my website. This would have been a custom order from JK, and given that the differences between the I and II were not all that significant in the baris, perhaps they only offered that finish in their II models. I still owned my Buescher when I play-tested the Couf, but I was so impressed with the JK-made bass, that I did finally decide to sell the bass to one of the people who had been in contact with me about wanting to buy a bass sax.
